I've been designing environments and structures since I first got my hands on Worldcraft in the 90's. Quake and other early games were fascinating to a young me, and I taught myself to make 3D maps for them using the then prehistoric internet.
My model building escalated when I started doing technical drawing and design technology in highschool, then finally I was able to take architecture as an elective subject. Soon after, Games Workshop gave me a job desiging and making models in thier Sydney store - even sending my excess creations to other stores around NSW! It was a dream come true for a 16 year old me. The rest is history!
Check out some of my creations, I just wish I had records of my earlier stuff.
I created them as concepts in 3D, then sent them off for the Sine Wave guys to develop into legit textured models. They'll be used in an MMO called GoJiyo.
I created them in 3D then built and painted them by hand.
I designed, built and painted this themed set for sale at Tin Soldier Sydney store.
Here's a bunch of unused concepts I still had a digital copy of, some of them may become a reality next time I build wargames terrain.
I made dozens of single pieces and a few full-sized static tables while I worked at games workshop, but sadly it was before the time of camera phones or even readily available digital cameras. These few pics I managed to dig up had to be scanned from cheap photo prints I've had for ages.
This is one of the first models I ever built, I was still in High School at the time. It was never fully painted or finished, but many good battles were had on it's majestic surface! Unfortunatley I was forced to sell it because it was huge and I had nowhere to keep it any more :(
